Frequently asked questions
What is a private treaty sale?
A negotiated sale of specific assets at a fixed or asking price, with no auction date. Equipment stays in place and is sold to the first acceptable offer. It suits late-model machines, complete lines, and specialty assets where a short list of qualified buyers will pay more than an open auction would produce.
How is an orderly liquidation different from an auction?
An orderly liquidation sells assets over a longer window, often while the facility is still winding down, and allows for negotiation lot by lot. An auction compresses the sale into a fixed date and lets competition set the price. HIG uses an orderly liquidation when the asset mix or the timeline does not favor a single-day event.
How do I make an offer on a listed item?
Use the contact on the listing or call (305) 638-5838 and reference the item. HIG will confirm availability, arrange an inspection, and respond to written offers. Listed prices are asking prices unless the listing says otherwise. Payment and removal terms match HIG auction sales: payment by wire or cashier's check, removal within the stated window by an insured rigger.
Can I inspect the equipment first?
Yes. Inspections are by appointment at the facility where the asset is located. HIG can also supply additional photos, video of the machine under power where available, and maintenance records provided by the seller.
I have surplus equipment. Can HIG sell it by private treaty?
Yes. Send the asset list, location, and photos. HIG will advise whether private treaty, a consignment into an upcoming auction, or a dedicated sale will net more, and will market the assets to its buyer network and the industrial equipment marketplaces either way.
